
Borchetta needed a compliant, state-aware Shopify storefront for direct-to-consumer spirits shipping. US spirits DTC is one of the most compliance-intensive e-commerce verticals — shipping regulations vary by state, age verification is legally required, and failure to filter ineligible orders before checkout creates both legal exposure and customer experience damage. Their existing setup had none of these safeguards, and the manual order cancellation workflow for ineligible states was consuming team time and eroding buyer trust. Limited release drops were announced via email but had no dedicated infrastructure — interested buyers had no way to join a waitlist, and sell-out events created frustration rather than excitement.

State eligibility checking was built into the product page — before a buyer could add to cart, they selected their state and were shown whether direct shipping was available, preventing cart-building for ineligible orders entirely. A limited release drop system was built with countdown timers, email waitlist opt-in, and priority access for list members. The brand aesthetic — dark, premium, music-world — was carried through every page.
